So, how does this really work?

Here's how I explained Scoop St. to my parents: Time Out New York meets group buying. At this point, she'd ask, "What's group buying?" At Scoop St., we call the process of getting the best deals in the city "collective commerce" - built on the concept of group buying, where aggregate demand helps to lower prices, we work with local businesses on offering a group discount on their services or products that happens if and only if a predetermined number of people sign up for the day's "scoop."

I really like today's deal. How do I get it?

Scoop St. deals runs for 24 hours, where you can purchase by clicking the green "Scoop it!" button on the homepage. If the deal is successful, meaning we're able to reach a minimum number of participants, you'll receive a PDF "Scoop Voucher" in your email the next day following the close of the sale - ready to use whenever you'd like. However, if not enough people sign-up to activate the deal, no one gets the deal (and your credit card is not charged). Lesson learned: be sure to tell your friends, boss and grandmother to get in on this Scoop for everyone to get it!

When do I receive my voucher?

You'll be emailed your voucher the next day after the sale ends. You can access the voucher from your email or log into your Scoop St. account to pull up your purchase order history. Simply print and enjoy!

Do I need to use my Scoop the same day I receive it?

Of course not! Your Scoop voucher will have specific terms and conditions that tell you exactly when you have until to redeem it. Typically, Scoops have an expiration date of six months to a year – giving you ample time to come in and experience the featured business at your leisure.

Can I purchase a voucher as a gift?

Absolutely! Unless otherwise listed in the scoop's terms and conditions, featured businesses can be gifted to friends, family, significant others or coworkers. (You'll make your boss' day!)

Hold on. My name is on my voucher. Can I still gift it?

Yes.

Do I have to use the full value of my voucher in one visit to the featured business?

Yes. Unless otherwise listed, Scoop vouchers have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash back or a credit balance. If you don't think you can use it all on one trip, just bring some more friends to the table or salon and experience the deal together!

Even though the deal isn't "on" yet, I still need to enter my credit card. Will I be charged?

No. Your credit card is only charged if we reach the minimum number of participants.

When will my credit card be charged?

If the deal is successfully activated, your credit card will be charged the following day after the sale closes.

Is Scoop St. safe?

Absolutely. We use 256-bit SSL technology to securely encrypt your credit card and process payment transactions. At no time is your card number ever stored on our servers.

What happens to my voucher if the featured businesses shuts down?

If anything happens that makes it impossible for you to redeem your voucher at a Scoop St. featured-business, we'll refund your money.
